Age & Room Groups
Babies rooms
Our Babies rooms cater for children from 6 weeks old to 2 years. We aim to provide the highest quality care in a nurturing, warm and loving environment designed with the parent and child in mind. Our educators design their learning environment to be personalised to meet each child’s individual needs and as much as possible, will try to reflect each child’s home routine. To do this successfully we believe working alongside our families, gathering as much information, will create beautiful memories for the Babies room children. Our Babies room has a maximum of 8 Babies per day, with the educator to child ratio being 1:4.
Whilst in our care, the Babies room children are stimulated with engaging activities as they learn through exploration and play in a safe and secure environment. Our educators plan appropriately each day for each individual child in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework. The Educators will plan each child’s experiences based on family input and interests from home, combined with interests the educator has observed during each child’s day in care and with the communities. Through each child’s play based learning, educators use observations to document children’s learning and scaffold their development through involvement and inclusion in the early childhood setting
Toddlers rooms
Our Toddlers rooms are designed for children aged 2 – 3 years. The Toddlers room program, in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework, is child-centred, play based and flexible, and caters to the needs of each Individual child. In this age group, we often see big changes in their communication skills and an increase in their vocabulary. The Toddlers rooms have a 1:5 Educator to child ratio. Our Educators use this smaller group size, to monitor and assist the children to reach their developmental milestones.
Our qualified educators create numerous opportunities daily for the children to discover, develop, play, create and simply enjoy their day. All areas of the curriculum are facilitated, experienced, recorded and reflected upon. Children have a generous combination of teacher directed time, the freedom of uninterrupted exploration and are encouraged to share their interests to further develop curriculum and planning goals, focus and interests.
Senior Toddlers / Senior Kindy room
Our Senior Toddlers / Senior Kindy rooms range from ages 2.5-3.5 years. The Senior Kindy rooms are a bigger size although we still use the 1:5 ratio in most cases (We always stay within the correct ratios). When the children enter this bigger and busier learning space, they are now ready to use the skills they have to engage with their environment and in both interactive and solitary play. At BELC & BHELC we strongly believe that children learn through play. Our educators in this room create learning experiences that are not only based on the child’s observed needs and age appropriateness but also with a strong emphasis on the children’s wants, ideas and interests.
Our Senior rooms are where we support and encourage a lot of independence, self-help skills, self-awareness, free choice activities and learning via trial and error. Our Senior room educators explore and investigate with the children to lay foundations in these important early years. As children become more aware and connected to their world they are also building their skills to build long lasting relationships and strengthening their social and emotional wellbeing.
Pre-Kindy room
Our Pre-Kindy room has children ranging from the ages 3-4 years old and has a big focus on building upon previous skills leading towards improving the child’s ability to deal in a more structured manner. It is here where the children learn through play as they are beginning to prepare for the transition to our pre-school programs where they will be introduced to more in depth skills literacy and numeracy skills along with a strong emotional and social wellbeing.
Our Pre-Kindy children are learning and expressing their strong individual personalities and are really starting to explore their world around them. Our curriculum supports children to express themselves as they are learning to regulate their own feelings and emotions. We guide children to take care of their own health & physical well-being to support them in all areas of their development. Our Pre-Kindy Educators create learning experiences in order to expand and broaden each child’s perspectives and encourage an appreciation of diversity. Our educators use a wide range literacy skills to extend and enrich children’s play so they can use their imaginations, create, design and have concrete learning experiences.
Kindergarten
(Approved Kindergarten Program)
In our Kindergarten rooms the curriculum content and planning in taken from the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines and Early Years Learning Framework to ensure that the children are ready to begin their primary school journey. Kindergarten is a play-based learning program where our Qualified Early Childhood Teachers guide the children to develop a love of learning, learning through play, and making friends. Across our programs, the Children will participate in play-based learning experiences designed to encourage their physical, social, intellectual, language and emotional abilities.
The Kindergarten rooms are introduced to reading, writing and numeracy kills along with emotional and developmental awareness. Under the guidance and care of qualified early childhood teachers and experienced educators your child will:

- Improve concentration, motor skills and respect for the environment
- Use language to communicate ideas, feelings and needs;
