Big hello to all of our families, I cannot believe how fast this week has gone, we have had so much fun exploring all kinds of different activities.
To wrap up our week and celebrate science week, today we set up a fun experiment for the class. It was a fun activity designed to look at colours and to encourage their curiosity….what changes can we see?, cause and effect, grip strength with our squeezy bottle and our hand eye coordination. We firstly placed a small drop of food colouring in the bottom of our cupcake tray, next step we covered it over with bi carb soda this made all the cupcake spots look the same, next step the children were invited to gather around the table where they then all had the opportunity to hold the squeezy bottle and add the vinegar…it was very exciting the childrens faces began to light up as the mixture bubbled over then….the colours began to show through. We talked about the colours and what we could see, the children were able to then touch the mixture to feel the texture, an then we used little droppers to then suck the mixture up and squirt out onto paper to create a rainbow masterpiece! An amazing activity with so many benefits..number 1 being the fun and wonder!
We also enjoyed a nice grouptime story with Miss Anita, we looked at a book called in the garden, we pointed out lots of different pictures and tried to say what we could see. We also had a little self selected play to finish off our morning before it was time for a well deserved lunch and rest, lunch today was a deconstructed sushi with teryaki beef and tuna YUM!
We are then looking forward to exploring with our friends from babies two for the afternoon….a few of us have already been pointing out towards the sandpit!
We hope you all have a fabulous and safe weekend and look forward to seeing you all next week!
Miss Rochelle and Miss Anita xoxo
