Welcome to another great Friday in the babies 1 room. This morning Reid enjoyed cuddles with Miss Shawn, he was thrilled to watch his friends arrive and kept looking around. When Miss Des’ree saw Mason he put a big grin on his face and chased her around the yard. Mason is an expert walker and it teaching himself how to run. Well done Mason. Elsie was next to arrive and Miss Des’ree popped her on the soft blocks that she enjoyed yesterday, Elsie wriggled and giggled off and on the blocks exploring the gross motor muscles. Conor spent his morning in the cubby house and collected loose parts around the yard and put them in his new home. Around 9 am we came inside and enjoyed some yummy baked beans with toast.

For group time today we did lots of reading. Adelin loved looking at the books and prompted her teacher to read her a story by handing them the books that interested her. We read:

  • Playful dinosaurs
  • Farm animals
  • Australian animals

To finish up the group time conor, Vance, Elsie, Ruby and Mason listening to Miss Des’ree sing:

  • Gulump when the little green frog
  • Old mc Donald had a farm
  • Incy wincy

As the babies went in and out of focus they joined in when they were interested in the songs their teachers sung

For activity time the babies enjoyed self-selected activities which included:

  • Reading books in our self-care corner, our self-care corner has cushions, books, flash cards and soft toys.
  • Home corner which invites the babies to explore, pots, pans, sensory bottles, kitchenette, baskets, and eggs with wooden egg holders.
  • On the mini table the babies had a choice of exploring the stackers, ball runners, puzzles, and coloured wooden blocks.

for activity time we allowed the babies to explore the toys in the room. Conor enjoyed the cause and effect toys and kept himself busy with the ball runner and car garage. Conor enjoyed testing his cognitive skills with the car garage, he used the key to twist the key hole and was very pleased with opening the door. After a few tries he smiled and lifted his work up. Adelin used her time to transfer the stackers from one pole to the next, she observed her work and did her best to match the stackers up. Ruby and Reid got lots of cuddles with their teachers and watched their friends explore the toys in the room. Throughout activity time the babies would greet their little friends by placing a gentle hand on their chest. Vance was in love with ruby and made sure he was very gentle with her. Reid loved observing the ball runner with conor and followed the ball with his eyes. After Vance said hello to his friends he gathered toys up in the car and practiced transporting them around the room. Mason couldn’t get enough time to explore he played with the ball runner, walkers, read books and then finally decided the cars were his favourite toy for the day. He looked at the diggers and moved them up and down on the ground. Elsie was a busy little bee and spent her morning in the home corner, she observed the shakers, sensory bottles, pots and pans. When she finished her investigation she went over to the self care corner and asked her teachers for a milk bottle. Well done Elsie!
