What a lovely Friday we have had in babies 2. This week our learning focus has been shapes. We have been painting shapes, sorting them into buckets, reading books about shapes, completing shape puzzles and learning about shapes during group time.
This morning we played outside with the babies. Penny, Audrey and Elle had a great time building up the blocks into a big tall tower. Penny and Audrey worked together to build one tower, Audrey passed to blocks to Penny then Penny would place them on top of the tower. Elle built her own tower, she made it really tall and wobbly then it fell down. They all laughed and thought it was quite funny. While the girls were building towers Jude enjoyed playing peek-a-boo through the window with Miss Hayley, Georgie spent her time riding around on the bikes and Indigo bounced up and down in the bouncer. Aston spent his time doing animal puzzles and pushing around the toy mowers.
Today during group time Miss Hayley held up shape cards and encouraged the babies to say which shape they could see, then one by one they were asked to pull the matching shape from the bucket. This is the first time we have played this game and surprisingly the babies got lots of the shape matching questions correct. After this we sang action songs with the children:
• Open Shut Them
• Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
• 3 Cheeky Monkeys
After Group Time we all went in for a play dough experience. The table was set up with yellow play dough and straws, a place for each child was set. The babies were shown how and then encouraged to push straws into the dough then pull them out again. This experience was planned to help develop the babies fine motor control and strength, and also provide an opportunity for sensory exploration.
Thanks for a great day babies. Enjoy your weekend and we will see you next week.
