What a lovely quiet day we have had here in babies 2 today. A few of our friends have been away on holiday so we had a smaller than usual group today. Our morning began with outdoor play. The babies enjoyed drawing with crayons, playing at the sand table, reading stories, playing in the castle tent and going down the slide. They also enjoyed dancing to a variety of different songs. The whole class experimented with moving their bodies around in different ways. we tired stomping, clapping, twisting, shaking our hips and arms, and twirling around in circles.
After morning tea we all sat down on the mat for group time. Miss Hayley sang to us the following songs:
- Open shut them
- If your happy and you know it
- Galoomp went the little green frog
- twinkle twinkle little star
- 3 cheeky monkey
We then read “Spot loves his mum” and “Baby Einstein Shapes”. Next we each had a turn of playing musical instruments. As Miss Hayley handed them out she said “one for Penny, one for Audrey, one for Joseph, one for Elle and one for Jude”. The babies then played the instruments with Miss Hayley while trying to say theirs and each others names. After we had finished talking about names we then counted how many friends were sitting on the mat, then how many fingers we have. The babies all seemed to enjoy counting and each time we reached five they clapped and said “yay”.
After group time we sat at the table for a craft activity. Some of us made special Mothers Day presents for our mummy’s then we all made name paintings with foam letters and paint. The babies seemed to like pushing the sponges down onto the paper and seemed very good at ‘accidently’ getting it on their fingers :-). Each time we would say “oh oh” and they would copy us. once we had finished painting we spent the last of our morning out in the yard. Elle, penny and Audrey all initiated a game of dress ups so before long we were all dressed as animals even Miss Hayley.
We hope you have a lovely weekend with your families. Stay safe 🙂
