Today has been a musical day in the babies 2 room. Penny, Jaxon, Audrey, Olivia, Emilia, Natalia and Evan all took part it a musical group time with Miss Hayley and Miss Stacey. Evan sat with Miss Stacey while Miss Hayley handed out the instruments. The drums are the most popular instrument everyone wants a turn but we only have two pairs so they were passed around the circle. First Penny and Audrey had a go at drumming with their hands, Audrey enjoyed this but Penny was not satisfied and wanted to know where the drum sticks were. Miss Stacey pointed to where they were sitting on the other side of the room. Penny smiled and walked slowly over to pick them up, she then came back over and played the drums excitedly with the drum sticks. She played fast then slow, then fast again. Olivia was watching closely and reached over to play the drums with Audrey. Audrey passed the drum over to Olivia and then picked up the xylophone. Olivia banged on the drums loudly with both hands and then reached over to have a turn of the mini piano. First she tried playing it with the drum stick then she used her hands and made lots of interesting sounds.
Emilia, Jaxon, Natalia and Evan each had a mini piano to play and enjoyed playing along to the beat of the drums that the others were playing. Evan played with Miss Stacey while Natalia and Emilia played side by side watching each other intently. Jaxon sat near Olivia with his own Piano and played that for a while then he swapped with Olivia to the drums. Fun was had by all. Playing musical instruments is becoming one of their favorite group activities.
We spent the rest of the day playing outside with sand and water, playing with squishy play dough, reading, drawing, dancing and having fun together.
