Today in the babies one room we started our day playing on the inside mat while we waited for all of our friends to arrive. Neveah enjoyed playing with the singing mirror, she enjoyed looking at herself and then pressing each button to see what tunes it would make, she then moved on to the soft blocks where she choose the blue, and the red block to take turns playing with and exploring the texture by putting it into her month.
After sitting down for our yummy morning tea of fresh fruit and fruit puree, we decided that our arts and crafts activity would be to celebrate Waitangi day which was on Saturday. Waitangi day is the anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. Miss Camila organised the paint and got all our babies ready to make hand print kiwi birds. Sahara was up first, as Miss Camila placed the paint onto her little hands she smiled and we thought that the paint must have felt nice and cold on her hands. She enjoyed squishing the paint between her fingers and then tried to place the paint in the other hand., Miss Camila held her hand straight and we made a beautiful hand print. Poppy was up next, she seemed also to enjoy the texture of the paint on her hands, and tried to open and close her hands many times, smiling and nodding her head as she did so. Mr Lachie then drew the becks and legs onto our birds and we were all very pleased at how beautiful they all looked.
Once we had finished eating our lunch we decided to venture outside to stretch our legs and have a play in the fresh air, we joined with babies two for a little play in the side yard. Aston relished in this time, finding happiness and enjoyment manipulating the sand many different ways and patterns. He liked playing with the shovel and bucket and seemed pleased with himself as he shovelled the sand into the bucket.
