Good Afternoon Families
Welcome back to another week of learning fun! We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.
This week our focus is on another one of our senses. We will be learning all about different tastes and textures of food. Bitter, Sour, Salty and Sweet.
Starting our week off with our Art Therapy Lesson with Miss V and Miss K. We began in our outdoor area with Miss K reading us a beautiful story called“Stone Soup” We all enjoyed acting out the story, taking it in turns to stir our imaginary soup. We used a big wooden spoon to stir coloured fluffy balls representing the stones around in a large pot. Imagining the taste and smell of our delicious stone soup. Then we transitioned inside two at a time where we were involved in a wonderful art experience. There was a variety of vegetables, paint and paper set out on the table for us to explore. We chatted about the colours we used as well as the vegetables and the colour of them as we happily used them to make magnificent patterns on the paper. We had a purple potato cut into the shape of an X, a red capsicum, and a green apple. The children really enjoyed this wonderful art experience. Hand eye coordination, fine motor skills, language development, social and colour recognition all being developed during this fun activity.
Extending on with this we will also be recognising different foods from around the world. Tomorrow we will be tasting a sour lemon ? and then following up with toast and lemon curd. (England)
Other interests today were climbing frames, balancing beams, and large soft foam blocks. Puzzles, books, and our new cubby house.
We sang and enjoyed doing the actions to the songs we chose. If Your Happy And You Know It, Wind The Bobbin Up, Five Little Speckled Frogs and Five Cheeky Monkeys.
Our Montessori life skills activity boards were popular again today. Buckles being a challenge. Buttons, clips and zippers their favourite. Lots of language and social skills being developed during this fun engaging activity.
We have all had an amazing day. See you all again soon.
Have a lovely afternoon everyone
Love Miss Deb and Miss Shafagh xxoo ?
