Good afternoon families and friends,
No rain today, so we were able to run, scream, play and jump outside, use the slide, the climbing frame and chase each other around the yard. We came inside for a short group time and to get ready for morning tea. We sang our morning songs and greeted each other with a big ‘good morning friends.’ Today we had a new friend joining our class, the lovely Tali. We are very happy to have you here with us Tali. Everyone made her feel welcome and wanted to play with her.
In group time, Miss Qiu talked about Halloween. She draw a ghost on the board and got the children to sound ‘ghost’ out. She talked about what ghosts look like and how we draw them. Miss Qiu then added ghost onto our word wall. This way the children can look at the words and use them and practise their writing skills. We lined up for morning tea, which was baked beans and yummy sliced bread.
We gathered on the mat, Alexander and Jonah did their show and tell this morning. Jonah brought in a book that he really liked. It was a sticker book with all different stickers and puzzles to do inside it. Our friends where interested in this book as they all seem to love stickers. Jonah said he has used a lot of the stickers in the book and he would let his friends look at it. Alexander brought Mr Cockatoo home. Today, he showed us the pictures and talked about what he did with Mr Cockatoo. Mr Cockatoo got to watch Alexander at his swimming lessons and hung out with his brother Jonathan. Alexander brought Mr Cockatoo for a bicycle ride, then at night time, Mr Cockatoo slept in Alexander’s room while they watched the stars and glowing lights that are on Alexander’s ceiling. Thanks for sharing!
Miss Bronagh talked to the children about how many letters were in our names, who has the longest name and who had the shortest name. Milah said, ‘Maddison had a long name’ so, we counted her name out together, she has 8 letters her name, Hunter said, ‘Wow that a big name’. Then, Alexander said, ‘My name is long.’ So we counted his name together and he has 9 letters own his name. Thus, Alexander has the longest name in the class. Miss Bronagh asked who had the shortest name, our friends said ‘Ada.’ The children were able to spell Ada’s name and knew how many letters there were. They shouted, 3! Our friends are so smart. Ada has the shortest name and Alexander, the longest.
Miss Qiu then talked quickly about the activities on offer today. She had a halloween art activity on the back tables, drawing and colouring pumpkins and spiders. Tali said she wanted to do art so she helped draw a big pumpkin. She drew it upside down and did an amazing job! We had the memory game on another table. Zoey, Chen Xi and Sara played this then got more cards as they wanted to play snap. Mason and Matthew enjoyed sitting together to play puzzles, helping each other when needed. Olivia and Lyla made a long track on the mat using the sample mats, and it was so big that it nearly covered the whole mat.
We changed home corner into the ‘Doctor’s Clinic.’ Milah, Hunter, Charli, Koa and Isla had fun in the doctors clinic, pretending to be doctors, nurses and patients. They all took it in turns to be each character and to use the doctors equipment.
Miss Hayley came for our Yoga session. All our friends gathered onto the mat. She had beautiful calming music in the background, and everyone sat in a big circle. She used a ball for breathing exercise, our friends passed it to each other, when they hold it they take a deep breathe in and out, then pass it the next friend. They did their different stretches then finished with ‘sleeping bunnies’.
We packed away our toys and got ready for lunch. We had crispy salon biodynamic fried rice, with cheese, peas, corn and green beans. Our friends sat on the mat when finished and we watched a dreamtime story then quiet activities.
Hope everyone had a great day,
Miss Qiu and Miss Bronagh
