- Please join us for our ANZAC service THIS FRIDAY 23rd April at 2.30pm in the PK/SK yard – siblings all welcome.
- Parent/Teacher meetings are filling up- Please place your child’s name in a slot (the sheet is by the Ipad) These will begin May 10th. We will be discussing new goals and anything our friends may need to develop as well as School reediness. A meeting with your teacher is the first step to a collaborative partnership focused on the best interests of your child.
This morning it was yet another beautiful and sunny day here at the Hills, and we all love playing and dancing in the sunshine getting our daily dose of vitamin D it was a beautiful day to be outside and we all couldn’t wait to get out and explore todays activities and spaces. the sun was shining big, bright and beautiful! Friends were already exploring the yard, the bike were zooming up and down the ramp and deck, friends we using their superpower strength to pull themselves up the ramp and onto the fort where they would look as far as the eye can see and pointing out all the buildings in our skyline. As it was such a great day we had the water troff tables out for water play using the connector blocks to construct and make pipes for then the water to travel to and from, we also had friends getting messy with finding their own painting materials to use as they painted a large piece of recycled paper for free expression art, friends used sticks, leaves and even rocks to paint a masterpiece all together as a team!
Once it was time to head inside to begin our program for the day and fill up our hungry bellies with delicious morning tea. We all lined up as strong and tall soldiers before marching our way back inside putting our hats away and joining Miss Shannen on the group time mat, where this morning we started off our warm up dance – we moved and grooved along to the song ROAR”. We re-joined Miss Shannen on the mat and started off with our roll and today we all greeted in Vanuatu – Halo as Miss Shannen called our names. Miss Shannen called out to her weather bird and we placed the weather cards on our Aboriginal Weather chart, we then Recapped sounds that we have been learning over the last few weeks. We then sung our days of the week song, putting our hands up to help write the day, date, month and year. This week the letter and sound “p” down the pirates plait and around his face. Our friends have all been doing so well with remember how to write our sounds with their magic pens. Look at it, Say it, write it,
Words beginning with “p”
Pizza, panda, parrot, pirate, pancakes, pineapple, popcorn, peach, pear, peg, pie, peacock, pumpkin, pretzel, paper, princess, pink, purple, pompom and lots more!!
We then transitioned with clapping our names into syllables , put on sunscreen and washed our hands with lots of soap practising good hyenine. Our morning tea today was delicious cake and fruit- we ate it all up! When everyone had finished eating and packed away their plates, chairs and water bottles we all joined Miss Kate back on the group time mat for our affirmations. Today as a group we repeated affirmations then Miss Kate stated that one by one we would look in the mirror and state our affirmation, Miss Kate would write it on the mirror. I am… Big, Powerful, enough, beautiful, powerful, strong, brave, kind, a great friend, capable, patient and persisitent, GOING TO HAVE THE BEST DAY!
Today’s activities we had friends who wanted to get creative with the playdough and make “p” objects. We had a delicious pizza, polar bears, pear’s’, pretzels, and creating our own pj’s. Well done friends!! Other friends used the blocks to construct a tower, bridge and a house! The café was in full swing and over at the art table friends each joined Miss Shannen to start on our mother’s day gifts selecting coloured paints that we all wanted to use – pastels (we cant say to much as it wont be a surprise for all our Mums and special friends)
It was soon time for lunch, but before that Miss Jeni arrived from Funky Feet Dance and showed us all a new dance and played the dance game the floor is lava! Miss Shannen set up our lunch today and we enjoyed yummy home made pumpkin soup with fresh Turkish bread and fresh salad! Once our bellies were full we rested their bodies and minds before we all journaled what our affirmations were.
This afternoon we engaged in quiet activities, friends enjoyed drawing, cars and trucks and the doll house with all the dolls. Kindy 2 then joined us to practise our ANZAC service songs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqtttbbYfSM
Ode of remembrance
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
We would love if families could support friends in learning these.
Thank you friends for another great day, enjoy all your evenings.
Lots of love Miss Kate, Miss Shannen xx
