Outdoor Play

This morning the children engaged various activities; ladybug searching, bug hunting with the magnifying glasses and gardening with Miss Shannan. The children were watching Miss Shannan pull some of the vines off of the wall and excitedly asked to help.  

Morning Tea 

Once at the door, the children washed their hands. After their hands were washed, they picked up their water bottles from the water bottle trolley and lined up to pick up their morning tea. After eating their morning tea, the children scraped their rubbish into the bin and placed their plates onto the food-trolley and placed their drink bottles back into the water bottle trolley.  

Group Time  

For group time, we completed our Acknowledgement to Country. We looked the New Zealand flag and discussed the differences that we could see in comparison to the Australian Flag. The children pointed out the colour differences in the stars. We also learnt the Maori word for Merry Christmas. Next, we sang our days of the week song and completed our daily calendar chart. 

Activity Time  

During activity time the children gathered together in play in various areas; Lillian and Abigail enjoyed feeding the horse coconut at the Christmas sensory table. Eric cooked up a storm of food in corner, serving it around the tables before joining Shion and Steve and building speedy, soaring rockets and jets. Emmett, Archie, Aristotelis, Lewis and Fynn made road trains with wheels upon wheels, upon wheels – racing them around the family tree. Connor and Spencer enjoyed making motorbikes and cars out of the building flowers, manipulating the flowers as they linked them together. Bonnie, Daniella and CC chopped and rolled the play dough into various creations, there were flowers and cookies and balls of various sizes. 

Group Time 

In middle group time we shared various show and tells. Spencer, Daniella, Archie, Emmett and Steve all took turns to share their items. The children enjoyed asking each other lots of questions.  

Lunch Time  

The children lined up at the door to wash their hands. Once their hands were washed, they picked up their water bottles from the water bottle trolley and lined up to pick up their lunch. After eating their lunch, the children scraped their rubbish into the bin and placed their plates onto the food-trolley and placed their drink bottles back into the water bottle trolley.  

Quiet Time  

After lunch, the children completed a yoga activity on the mat. The children then sat quietly and engaged in a story that was read by Miss Shannan and played various games. After this the children selected various quiet activities and engaged in these both individually and with their peers. 

Table Activities  

For the table activities, the children enjoyed drawing, connecting flowers, books, playdough and floor puzzles.  

When the bell was rung, the children packed away the activities.  

Group Time  

For group time, we chose our phonics song and went over our alphabet. We then chose a phonics game to engage in. After that, the children chose various songs to sing and dance to.  

To transition to afternoon tea, the children were asked to dance their way to get some sunscreen.  

Afternoon Tea  

The children line up at the mirror to apply sunscreen. Once they have applied sunscreen, the children line up at the door to wash their hands. After their hands were washed, they picked up their water bottles from the water bottle trolley, put on their hats and lined up to pick up their afternoon tea. After eating their morning tea, the children scraped their rubbish into the bin and placed their plates onto the food-trolley and placed their drink bottles back into the water bottle trolley.
