This morning outside, the children were finally able to have a run around outside. The children engaged in activities such as the cubby house, the fort, running races and drawing.
At group time, we completed our Acknowledgement to Country. Then, Rie chose the country of the day, which was France. Miss Jade asked the children what language they might speak in France and Lillian told us that they speak French as she has been there before. We looked at the flag of France and spoke about the colours and alignments of the colours. We looked at the map of France and saw that it neighboured Germany which we had previously looked at. We looked at images of France and saw a tall building that often appeared. Grace told us that it was the Eiffel Tower. To say ‘Merry Christmas’ they say ‘Joyeux Noel.” We completed our roll in French and Grace then chose our Days of the Week song. We completed our daily calendar and our friends Aristotelis, Connor, Kai and Cooper T handed out their thoughtful end of year gifts to their peers.
Mr Daniel came to teach us Arakan. It was his very last lesson for the year. The children began by lining up in a straight line. Mr Daniel asked the children to practice blocking their heads. Then, he would provide instructions for the children to complete which allowed them to practice their left and right directions. The children raised their left and right arms when indicated. Mr Daniel would then ask each child to hit using either hands. To conclude the Arakan lesson, the children were able to play the racing game where Mr Daniel would call the names of two children and they had to race to fetch the thrown toys and bring them back to Mr Daniel. The children are so grateful to have Mr Daniel for Arakan this year,
At activity time, the children spent the morning outside. Cooper, Aristotelis, Nash, Ben, Lewis and Spencer loved playing with the Mobilo outside. They were able to make various designed cars and trucks that they then used to drive across the yard. Some friends drive them down the slide, on the grass and even down the ramp. Rie enjoyed the puzzles. She was working alongside Miss Maca to complete the dinosaur puzzle. It was a little bit tricky! Kai and Shion were playing with the cars on the grass. The boys were driving them across the bumpy road! Grace, Elke, Daniella, Bonnie and Lillian were playing on the fort. Grace and Elke enjoyed sliding down the slide while Lillian, Bonnie and Daniella were standing at the top chatting amongst each other. Connor, Shion, Kai, Grace and Lewis had lots of fun doing the running races with Miss Jade. Miss Jade would say “Ready Set Go!” and the children had to race to the fence and back as quickly as they could.
At group time, Bonnie, Aristotelis and Shion shared their Show and Tell. Bonnie brought in her Baby Yoda today, Aristotelis brought in a picture of him as a baby and Shion brought in a snake. Thanks for sharing friends!
Connor wanted to learn about Angler Fish so we watched a cool video about them. We learnt that the Anglerfish live in the bottom of the sea where it is very dark. Females are larger than males and the females are the ones with the light. These lights are called “Lures.” The males are a lot smaller than the males so they latch onto the females.
Miss Jade then read the children a Christmas story called “10 Little Elves.”
For the table activities, the children enjoyed drawing, connecting flowers. Puzzles and book corner.
For group time, we chose our phonics song and went over our alphabet. We then chose a phonics game to engage in. After that, the children chose various songs to sing and dance to.
