This morning outside, Cooper T, Spencer, Connor and Nash were at the sides of the sandpit. They were building a house for their favourite characters. They children worked together to build it. Rie and her friends from Kindergarten 1 were pretending to find treasure. They were pretending that the bark in the yard was precious treasure. Bonnie and Daniella were sitting under the slide. They were chatting about their weekend.

For group time, we completed our Acknowledgement to Country. Then, Miss Jade spoke about how we have a prize box in the Kindergarten room. On Fridays Miss Jade would choose a random name out of the bowl and that person will receive a prize whenever they are here at kindy. To get their name in the bowl, the children would be showing great, positive behaviour in the room. The children were so excited to try this out. After that, Aristotelis chose the Days of the Week song and we completed the daily calendar.

At activity time, Rie, Connor and Alaska enjoyed the new Christmas sensory box in the room. There was desiccated coconut that was ‘snow’ with baubles, decorations and scoops. The children enjoyed smelling the coconut and playing with all the items. Summer enjoyed the writing table. There were new Christmas words that the children could practice. She enjoyed writing the word, ‘reindeer’ and ‘Christmas.’ Bonnie, Daniella, Sofia and Alaska enjoyed the arts and craft table. The girls were making their own baubles and Christmas trees to decorate the room. Fynn, Nash and Spencer enjoyed the connecting flowers. The boys were linking them together to make large and small cars that would be driven around the floor. Aristotelis, Kai, Shion, Steve and Eric enjoyed the trains and Mobilo. The children were creating cars out of the Mobilo and would drive them along the tracks. Mr Don also made a fireplace display. He put up a brick wall and a fire pit.

For group time, Sumner and Spencer shared their Show and Tell. Summer brought in a crystal while Spencer brought in photos of his childhood. The children were so interested in seeing their friend’s things from home. Thank you for sharing! Afterwards, we went through a few 2D shapes. We looked at the names of them, how many sides and corners. We also explored what things around us are these shapes.

For the table activities, the children enjoyed, drawing, connecting shapes, magnetic sticks, and connecting flowers.

For group time, we chose our phonics song and went over our alphabet. We then chose a phonics game to engage in. Then, we began to practice our songs for the Christmas party. We enjoyed singing and dancing to them.

Home-readers will be located downstairs in the office for you to personally change on a weekly basis. Please ensure children wear their festive clothing for tomorrow’s Christmas party!
