This morning was raining outside, so the children stayed in Kindergarten 1 to complete various activities. Miss Qiu then read a story for all the children to engage in.

For group time, we completed our Acknowledgement to Country. Miss Jade asked what everyone did on the weekend. Some friends went to Seawold, the beach, to their friend’s houses and even Ballina! Seems like everyone had a great weekend. After that, Rie chose the country to complete for our roll today. She chose Sweden. Rie has a Swedish background so she was glad to choose this country. Miss Jade asked her how they say ‘Merry Christmas’ in Swedish, but she wasn’t too sure. We found out that they say ‘God Jul’ so we said this to do the roll this morning. We also spoke about their flag and the colours and images it had on it. We concluded at looking at the map of Sweden and the neighbouring countries. Shion then chose the ‘Days of the Week’ song and we completed our daily calendar.

At activity time, Nash, Aristotelis, Eric, Steve and Cooper T were playing with the Mobilo. The children were building and designing their own cars. The children had to make sure that they used the linking parts to be able to add more pieces onto their transportation. Rie, Shion, Lillian and Connor enjoyed the playdough. Miss Jade made special Christmas playdough that smelt like gingerbread dough! There was cinnamon, allspice, ginger and nutmeg added into the dough to make it smell so delicious. The children had various Christmas cookie cutters, pipe cleaners, googly eyes and buttons to create whatever they pleased. Sofia, Daniella, Bonnie and Alaska enjoyed the Arts and Craft table. Here at this table, the children used the cookie cutters from the playdough table to trace the shape and cut them out. The children would then decorate their shapes and add parts to it to make it stand out. Kai enjoyed the wooden bits and pieces. He was creating a fireplace! He used the sticks to place in the centre to make it the fire-pit. And the rounder wooden parts to make a circle around it. It looked so amazing. Fynn enjoyed the connecting flowers. He was linking the flowers together to make a big truck. It was huge! Sofia, Eric, Steve, Cooper T and Aristotelis wrote letters to Santa today. Some wished for Lego, castles and cars.

At group time, Connor shared his Show and Tell. This week, our theme is “I spy…” The item must begin with the same letter as their name. Connor brought in a picture of a crocodile. He then shared some facts about crocodiles. We thought it would be a great idea to learn more about crocodiles. We discussed what we already knew about crocodiles. We knew that they can live in in lakes, rivers and swamps, have lots of teeth and come in shapes and sizes. We watched a very informative video about crocodiles and we found out that they live around Asia and Australia. They love meat, which make them carnivores and can lay 12-18 eggs at a time. Crocodiles sound like such amazing animals.

For the table activities, the children enjoyed drawing, puzzles, connecting flowers, floor puzzles and magnetic dress ups.

For group time, we chose our phonics song and went over our alphabet. We then chose a phonics game to engage in. After that, the children chose various songs to sing and dance to.

Home-readers will be located downstairs in the office for you to personally change on a weekly basis.
