Outside this morning, Thomas, Ben, Steve, Charlie and Nash were enjoying the ball-dart game. At this activity, the boys stood in front of the dartboard. Standing in one line, the children took turns to throw the ball and try to get it to stick onto the centre where that was the highest point you could get. The children were using their gross motor and hand-eye coordination to try to aim the ball. Connor, Alaska, Nisha, Leilani, Rie, Elke and Grace were at the drawing table. Some friends were colouring in a picture of a hamster, while other friends were drawing.

For group time this morning, we completed our Acknowledgement to country. Aristotelis chose our country for the day which was Bahamas We looked at the flag and discussed the colours and images. Then, we searched up the map of the Bahamas and looked up the language they spoke. We found out that in Bahamas, they speak English. To say ‘Good Morning,’ they say, “Good Morning!.” We then completed our roll in English.  Then, the children picked out the ‘Days of the Week Song.” After singing the song, we completed our daily calendar/weather chart.

Activity Time

At activity time, Bonnie, Alaska, Lillian and Nisha enjoyed making spiders. Lillian wanted to make spiders today, so we decided to paint paper plates black and use our fine-motor skills to attach pipe-cleaners on the side of the plate to create legs for the spider. We also got to glue on some googly eyes. Thomas and Ben enjoyed playing with the kinetic sand. At this activity the children were moulding the sand into various shapes and especially loved using the knives to slice their sand. At the marble run, Rie, Grace, Elke, Fynn and Archie were building tracks. They were attaching various parts together to form tracks to run their marbles through. Aristotelis, Nash, Connor, Cooper P and Charlie had lots of fun at the train set. The children collaborated together to build a track on the floor and then would follow each other using their trains. Steve, Eric, Cooper T and Shion were playing with the cars. The children were driving their cars along the car-table. Lastly, Abigail, Daniella and Leilani were playing with the number puzzle. This activity allowed the children to match numbers with the numeral, word and amount.

On the mat, we had Bonnie, Aristotelis and Grace shared their Show and Tell. They shared the things that they were thankful for. In Kindergarten 2, we love sharing and hearing about the things we and our friends are thankful for.

Abigail then chose a sea-animal for us to learn about. She chose the puffer fish. We first began to discuss what we already knew about the puffer fish. We already knew that they are small at first, but then will puff up. Lillian told us that they puff to scare away their predators! We then watched video about puffer fish. We learnt that the spikes on puffer fish could be quite long. These are used to protect the fish. The video also clarified that Lillian was correct about her fact! We also learnt that there are different types of puffer fish such as the two-teethed puffer fish! Miss Hayley came and had a yoga lesson with us. We first began by posing in various animal poses by listening and watching Miss Hayley. The children then completed the ‘Sleeping Bunny’ song where the children were pretending to be sleeping bunnies and would wake up as a variety of animals that they had to be. We concluded the lesson with a calming activity where children practiced their breathing.

For the table activities, the children enjoyed the writing table, caterpillar number puzzle, peg boards, drawing and wooden shapes.

Next, we picked out the phonics song that we wanted to sing and chose our sound of the day.  The sound of the day today is the letter H. We watched the letter H song and then we came up with all the words that began with this letter such as hat, horse and hot. When we finished coming up with the words, we counted how many we found and repeated after Miss Jade, all the words that we found. To end our group time, we practiced our graduation songs.

Dear parents, people ensure Transition Statement Consent forms are brought back ASAP. Also, home-readers will be located downstairs in the office for you to personally change on a weekly basis. Next week is Book Week so on the Monday and/or Thursday, children are welcome to dress up as their favourite character from a book. This week will also be photo week.
