This morning outside some friends enjoyed sitting at the table and drawing. Lillian, Sofia and Tali were drawing pictures of houses and their friends. Abigail, Lillian and Bonnie had lots of fun at the fort. They were climbing up and down the ropes and even sitting to chat to each other. Fynn, Archie, Steve and Eric were also playing on the fort. But they loved going down the slide. The boys wanted to go down the slide together!
For group time this morning, we completed our Acknowledgement to country
Miss Nadine and Mr Lachie went over that Sofia was celebrating the Day of the Dead and last night was her celebration. Sofia reminded her friends that this event was to celebrate those who have passed away and this event was a celebration of their life. Sofia also taught us how to say hello is Spanish and even count! Thank you so much for sharing Sofia! Then we chose our morning song and we sang our ‘Days of the Week Song.” After singing the song, we completed our daily calendar/weather chart. Lastly, the children chose the activities for the day.
At activity, we created some Mexican banners. We had an outline of the design and were able to colour it in bright colours. In Mexico, they hang these up for decoration. Alaska, Tali, Sofia, CC and Daniella enjoyed colouring these in. Abigail, Emmett and Abigail were sitting at the tables playing with the animals. The children collected the animals that they wanted to play as and were pretending to play as them. Fynn, Lewis, Connor, Aristotelis and Archie enjoyed the connecting tubes. These were a new activity that was brought in for us and they loved connecting them. Some friends even made some donuts. Delicious! Steve, Eric, Shion, Cooper T, Cooper P and Spencer were playing with the cars and unifix cubes. The boys were creating towers for their cars to drive around.
For group time, we had a special show that was coming to perform for us. Bravehearts Ditto Show came to teach us a few things about safety. The children learnt about ‘yes’ and ‘no’ feelings and that if they had a ‘no’ feeling they get butterflies, legs will be wobbly and heart beating fast.
We were able to dance and sing along to songs that taught us about our personal safety. We also learnt that our private parts are for us and that nobody should be touching them besides doctors and ones that we love. Lastly, the children were reminded that if they feel a ‘no’ or ‘unsafe’ feeling, to run away, look for help and tell someone they trust. It was a very informative show.
For the table activities, the children enjoyed connecting flowers, writing table, puzzles, drawing, dog counting game, memory game and alphabet bingo.
In the afternoon, Tali, Emmett and Abigail shared their show and tell. They showed us their collections from home and it was so interesting and exciting to see what our friends like to collect. Thank you for sharing! Next, we picked out the phonics song that we wanted to sing. Then, we practiced our performance and routine for graduation.
