Today outside, Fynn, Elke, Grace and Nisha were playing in the bark area and around the kitchen. Nash and Spencer enjoyed playing with the numerical puzzles. The boys were working together to complete each set.

At group time, we completed our Acknowledgement to Country. Then, Nash chose the ‘Days of the Week’ song and we completed our daily calendar. After that we spoke about how today was special day as it is Remembrance Day. We watched a short video and spoke about how this day is to remember all the people who had fought in the war and died for us. We concluded by reading a story called ‘Proud as a Peacock, Brave as a Lion.” This story was about a grandfather and his experiences through the war. It was very interesting to hear.

At activity time, Bonnie, Daniella. CC and Alaska were painting some poppies for Remembrance Day. We used corks to create the flowers and painted on our stem and leaves. They looked so beautiful. Elke, Grace, Nisha, Leilani and Lillian enjoyed the kinetic sand. The children used the play dough tools to cut and create shapes out of it. Connor, Archie and Fynn enjoyed the magnetic sticks. They worked together to link them altogether to create one long piece. Lewis, Charlie and Kai had so much fun with the train set. They were creating tracks all around the room. Aristotelis and Nash were playing with the marble run. The boys were building tracks together and watched their marbles go through their tracks. Steve, Angelo, Eric and Spencer loved the cars. They were racing each other and creating ramps for their cars.

We had a special event today. We had Professor Jellybean come to show us some science experiments. First, we were able to put on special lab coats. She went over the rules of our activities and then we sat on the tables and placed our goggles on. Everyone looked like scientists. Firstly we spoke about colour mixing and was able to watch water change its colour. Then, she came around and placed some snow powder. We watched the water react with the powder and saw that the powder turned into snow. It was not cold at all!

Next, we had a cup of water each. Then, Professor Jellybean came around and placed some calcium powder into our water and we mixed it up until it was all dissolved. She then came around with bottles of seaweed-based thickener coloured in various bright colours. The children were asked to squeeze the colours into their water and see the reaction. It would then turn into worms! The children were able to use all the colours provided. It was so cool to see the reaction of the calcium water with the food thickener!

Lastly, we had a small container of citric acid individually. Then, a container of coloured containers were placed in the centre of the table. Each container was filled with coloured soap, oil and water. We spoke about how the oil and water do not mix. We were then able to place the citric acid into the small containers and watch the reaction. It began to bubble and foam up! It was like a volcano! She told us that these two products created a gas. We had so much fun with Professor Jellybean today!

For the table activities, the children enjoyed the writing table, space puzzle, alphabet bingo, drawing and math puzzles.

Next, we picked out the phonics song that we wanted to sing. Grace and Charlie shared their Show and Tell. We had to try and guess what their item was and see if it was correct. Thanks for sharing! Then, we practiced our performance and routine for graduation.

Home-readers will be located downstairs in the office for you to personally change on a weekly basis. RSVP list for graduation, Christmas Party and Parent Teacher night is located in the upstairs office. On graduation night, graduate photos will be sold for $5.
