This morning outside many friends enjoyed the colouring-in. Alaska, Elke, Grace, Lillian, Daniella and Bonnie were colouring in some Halloween sheets. Angelo and Connor enjoyed the spinning wheels. The boys enjoyed spinning around them and even asked Miss Jade to spin them really fast. Fynn and Archie enjoyed playing on the fort, especially climbing up the ropes.
For group time this morning, we completed our Acknowledgement to country. Charlie chose the flag for the day which was Northern Ireland. We discussed the flag and the colours and images it had on it. We then searched up the map of Northern Island and their language. They speak Irish and English there. To say ‘Good Morning’ in Irish, they say “Maidin Mhaith.”Then, we sang our ‘Days of the Week Song.” After singing the song, we completed our daily calendar/weather chart.
At activity time, Bonnie and Daniella enjoyed the painting activity. This activity had cardboard rolls cut out like spiders and was used as stamps. The children pressed the spiders into black paint to create their painting of spiders. The children also got to glue on some googly eyes. Some of our friends even created monsters! Charlie, Nisha, Grace and Elke enjoyed the kinetic sand. The children used the playdough tools to build and manipulate the sand. Some friends used the cutters to create shapes. Lillian and Leilani enjoyed the drawing the table. They were drawing pictures and writing the names of their friends. Kai, Steve, Nash, Aristotelis, Lewis and Connor had lots of fun at the train set. The children were building a track along the floor and even used the cars to drive across the tracks, Ben and Spencer were using the cars to jump over the ramps that they made from the train set. Fynn and Archie were building with the connecting flowers. They were building cars, trucks and bikes, Anglo enjoyed the kinetic sand on the floor. Here, he would gather up the sand in his hands and roll them into balls. He enjoyed pushing the sand together against his hands.
On the mat, we had Spencer share his Show and Tell. He shared his mask with everyone and spoke about why he loved it so much.
Daniella chose the sea-animal for the day which was an angel fish. We spoke about what we already knew about them, which was that they can be stripy, there are many different types, and some even have a mouth that looks like a beak. We watched a video about the angelfish and we learnt that they are carnivores. That means that they eat meat or other fish. We also learnt that angelfish can be pets and are from South America.
For the table activities, the children enjoyed connecting flowers, food memory game, writing table, floor puzzles, drawing and wooden shapes.
Next, we picked out the phonics song that we wanted to sing and chose our sound of the day. The sound of the day today is the letter C. We watched the letter C song and then we came up with all the words that began with this letter such as Connor, Cooper, and Captain America. When we finished coming up with the words, we counted how many we found and repeated after Miss Jade, all the words that we found. To end our group time, we practiced our graduation songs.
