9th May, 2016

Good afternoon families,

I hope you had a wonderful mothers day yesterday and we are all ready for the week ahead. We had a nice day today starting the day off with healthy lifestyle living, which involved us doing lots of different activities and exercises, pretending to be monsters, animals and playing new games together.

When we came inside we had lots of fun building different structures after looking at the structure book, playing with some new number counters, looking at the different numbers and Harrison was interested in what the symbols meant and how we can use them together, so we used them to add and subtract different numbers. We also had lots of fun playing in homecorner playing with the dress ups and with the plates and the play food.

The children then picked up the long cardboard tubes we had and decided that we would turn them into didgeridoos, by using red and orange paint and using our  fingers to paint different patterns onto the tubes, we will be continuing to paint these throughout the week using the aboriginal colours and patterns, we then had a look at am Aboriginal book that we have available for us and then spoke about what the aboriginals used to paint, how they painted and what type of symbols they used to communicate and to tell stories. We then read the story “how the sun came to be”.

During rest time, special boxes were set up for us to use, these included cutting and collage activities, beading onto pipe cleaners and using buttons to create different jewellery, and artwork. IMG_0040 IMG_0041 IMG_0042 IMG_0047 IMG_0048 IMG_0051 IMG_0052 IMG_0053
