Happy Monday to all our Senior Kindy families! We hope you had a fantastic weekend and are ready for another fantastic week at the hills! We can’t believe we are entering our final month of the year tomorrow! It is such a beautiful time to reflect on all the amazing progress each and everyone of our Senior Kindy children have achieved.

The morning started in the Toddlers Two classroom, engaging in Heuristic play using the wooden building blocks. The children enjoyed building bridges and making tall towers, counting each block as they piled them one on top of another.

We soon ventured over to the Senior Kindy classroom where the children requested some drawing. Some of our friends are beginning to draw shapes and stick figures of people, which is so great to see. We made sure we focused on our pencil grip and control throughout this activity.

At 8am, it was time to apply some sunscreen and head outside for a morning of fun in the sun. We loved climbing the fort and playing in the sandpit. Of course, many of the girls asked for Elsa plaits, so the girls were waiting patiently for their turn!

We decided to go inside nice and early in order to cool off and enjoy some yummy morning tea. This morning we enjoyed some delicious fresh fruit and some warm yummy sultana and blueberry cake. Of course we ate this all up!

It was then time to join Miss Shawn and Miss Stacey on the mat for a group time. We have really appreciated the interest in bringing in books from home for us to read at kindy! We had some fabulous books brought in today and they were, ‘The Rabbit’s Tale,’ ‘Father Christmas Needs a Wee.’ ‘Father Christmas comes up trumps,’ ‘There is a Monster Under my Christmas Tree,’ ‘The Night Before Christmas,’ and ‘Bluey.’ Thank you to all our friends who brought in books today!

For activity time today we had a number of activities set up, all requested by the children. These activities were:

  • Stickle Bricks on the grey mat, great for cognitive learning.
  • Drawing at the Christmas hat Table, using our imagination and working on our fine motor skills.
  • Playdough at the present and candy cane table, making Christmas themed shapes and objects.
  • Home corner picnics using the cushions and the utensils, great for expanding the imagination.

At 11am it was time for some of our friends to go to Tumble Tots, whilst our other friends helped to pack away the room and make their own beds. We are doing such a great job at learning this self help skill and we are so proud of all our friends and their amazing efforts.

For lunch today we were treated to some delicious chick pea nuggets which we all enjoyed very much and of course we all loved eating our roast vegetables!

It was then time for a big rest as we prepared ourselves for an exciting afternoon. The Senior Kindy class has been transitioning over to the kindergarten yard once a week to meet their new educator Miss Kate, who will be joining us at the centre next year. This gives the children an opportunity to meet Miss Kate and build a relationship with her before their initial transition in the new year.

Thank you for another fabulous day Senior Kindy! Miss Shannen joins us again tomorrow, and Miss Bea will return Wednesday! Have a lovely evening.

Lots of Love,

Miss Stacey and Miss Shawn
